We met in the spring of 2013 at the Northern Arizona University Newman Center's swing dance night that Danielle set up. After an awkward first dance, with everyone in the room watching us, we parted for the summer, not knowing much about each other. The next semester, Chris lived at the Newman Center, and Danielle was on the music staff, so we spent a lot of time together there, growing in our relationship with Christ, and friendship with each other. Danielle liked Chris, but he was uninterested in dating, until at the Lumberjack Awakening retreat in the fall, where he saw her behind Jesus in the Eucharist as the self-giving love the bishop had told him he was truly looking for. We started dating the next weekend and have made it through one deployment, many late nights and early mornings working on homework and talking together. We now are Juniors at Northern Arizona University, both work as managers at Albertsons, Chris is in the Army ROTC program, and Danielle is a TA for the philosophy department. We will finish our senior year in Flagstaff, and then move wherever the Army sends Chris.
